Going plant-based can make you feel great… until it doesn’t—this is the reason that started Plant Generation.
As former medical and pharmaceutical scientists, we realised early on that we are misled into believing modern man needs drugs and other 20th-century interventions to live a healthy life. You see – “ageing and chronic diseases are normal… right? All you need to do is “eat more wholesome foods to live a healthy life”.
So over ten years ago, we did just that. We ate a clean, organic and primitive diet while smashing all the micro and macronutrients daily.
However, our energy and well-being were steadily on the decline.
It’s “the carbs” said the pale and grey-looking biomedic… “They, amongst many other terrible things, slow you down. You gotta go ketogenic – it’s clean energy”.
The frail and skinny-looking pharmacologist replied, “But… the latest research shows how plants are full of phytonutrients; whole-food plant-based is the way to go!”.
These early conversations opened the doors to years of research, self-experimentation and a friendship unlike any other. No table was left unturned.
Eating plant-based is proven to be good for you and the planet. However, it wasn’t until we made one crucial connection that we were on the path to finding the answer. And no, unfortunately, this one wasn’t in the literature books. It turns out that all plants come from seeds, and all seeds protect themselves with anti-nutrients. While anti-nutrients in themselves aren’t bad, the dose makes the poison. The significantly high levels in raw and cooked seeds are enough to exhibit toxicity and prevent us from absorbing their nutrients.
Fortunately, our ancestors knew the solution: proper preparation of these foods, as has been done for thousands of years, helps remove anti-nutrients, making them more readily digestible, flavourful and, most importantly, more nourishing. So you will feel the full power of living plant-based or, as we call it, plant-forward.
