Bio-activation is our unique process, a combination of germination, baking and cold-milling. Thus, creating a delicious, more flavourful and nutritious nut butter that’s low in anti-nutrients (phytic acid, lectins, tannins and enzyme inhibitors). When possible, a bio-activated nut or seed has its protective layers removed.
Bio-activation requires living raw nuts and seeds, which are still viable for germination—a key difference to most activated nut butter. The first pre-germination step hydrates the seeds with filtered water and Himalayan sea salt to remove anti-nutrient defences and mycotoxins.
Next, we dehydrate and low-temperature bake to perfection, removing heat-sensitive anti-nutrients while bringing out the best flavour. Applying low heat for a short duration reduces nutrient loss and glycotoxin formation.
Lastly, we cold mill the nuts to produce our signature crush, a hybrid texture to delight the senses and nourish the microbiome. It’s perfect for slathering on toast, in recipes and sauces, or just eating out the jar!
As a result, our bio-activated nut butter range delivers concentrated flavour and absorbable nutrients. So you receive more of the minerals, vitamins and protein listed on the nutrition label. That is to say, with our bio-activated nut butter, less really does equal more.
